Driving in Fog

Fog is a frequent hazard on northern Italian highways, especially in the Po Valley in autumn and winter. Rules: reduced speed limit (shown on variable message signs), mandatory use of rear fog lights, increased following distance. Tips: if visibility is under 50m, consider exiting at the next station. Don't use high beams (they worsen visibility). TUTOR system may be deactivated in dense fog. In Emilia-Romagna there are special 'anti-fog barriers' that improve visibility.
