The toll in detail
From Milan to Turin the route runs entirely on the A4 motorway, linking Lombardy to Piedmont along a stretch of 157 km. It is the main motorway axis between the two cities and is tolled for its full length.
For a car (Class A) the toll at the booth is €18.4, VAT included. This is the amount actually charged at the barrier, cross-checked against the motorway operators' calculators, rather than an estimate worked out from the distance. When you pay you can use the Telepass lanes, which let you pass without stopping, or the lanes that accept cash and cards: the amount due is the same either way.
Heavier or larger vehicles fall into higher toll classes and pay proportionally more than a car. The figure shown here therefore applies to Class A only and already includes VAT, as is the case for every Italian motorway toll.
