The toll in detail
From Rome to Milan, the motorway route runs the full length of the A1, linking Lazio with Lombardy over 604 km. It is the most direct way between the two cities and stays on a single main motorway.
For a car (Class A), the toll at the booth is €45.6, VAT included. This is the actual amount charged at the barrier, cross-checked against the operators' calculators, rather than a figure estimated from distance. At the toll plaza you can pay with cash or card in the dedicated lanes, or drive through without stopping in the lanes reserved for Telepass.
Heavier or larger vehicles fall into higher classes and pay proportionally more. The figure shown therefore applies to Class A cars, while large vans, multi-axle vehicles and trucks follow different rates depending on their category.
